QUICK AND DELICIOUS APPLE RINGS

Fall is on it’s way and I couldn’t be more prepared. Such a beautiful season needs some beautiful food to go with it. So today, I’ll be showing you how you can make these delicious apple rings at home. Apples are the ultimate fall fruit, so this is the perfect recipe to get you in the mood for the season.

If you’re vegan, I’ve got you covered! If you’re not, I’ve got you covered as well! Here are two different recipes, leading to the same result: heaven on a plate. Choose the one that suits you best and please enjoy.

I tried the vegan recipe and it was sooooo good. I had enough batter for three apples, so these measurements will serve three people (unless you’re cooking this for me, I’ll eat those three on my own). First up is the vegan recipe, so if you’re not interested in that, just scroll down and you’ll find the regular recipe.

YOU WILL NEED (VEGAN VERSION)

1 cup of soy milk
1 cup of buckwheat flour
3 tablespoons of water
1 tablespoon of flaxseed
pinch of salt
pinch of baking powder
apples
coconut sugar

YOU WILL NEED (NON-VEGAN VERSION)

1 cup of milk
1 cup of flour
1 egg
pinch of salt
pinch of baking powder
apples
sugar

STEP ONE

As you may or may not know, vegans do not eat any animal products. This means that we’re not going to use any eggs or cow milk in our vegan recipe. Cow milk is very easy to recplace, just use soy milk, rice milk, coconut milk etc. But how are we going to replace an egg? Well, it’s just as easy. Let me show you!

Add 3 tablespoons of water to 1 tablespoon of flaxseed, mix together and let this sit for about 10 minutes.

This mixture will have a slimy consistency and will be used as a cohesive to hold everything together, just like the eggs we always use.

STEP TWO

Now all there is left to do, is put everything into a bowl and whisk.

STEP THREE

Cover the apple rings with the batter and put them into a frying pan. After a minute, turn them over so they’ll turn brown on both sides.

YOU’RE DONE!

Take them out when they’re golden brown, roll them into some sugar or syrup and dig in.

Even my dad, who is a carnivore at heart, loved the vegan apple rings. I didn’t tell him what the ingredients were when I offered him some rings and the first thing he said was ‘Can I have another one?’. This only shows that you do not need animal products to make delicious food, there’s always an alternative!

Are you vegan? If so, what is your favorite vegan snack? If not, are you going to try this recipe?
